Well B. seems to be feeling better now. She had strep throat last weekend and even after taking an antibiotic for more than 24 hours, she still had a fever last Friday night of 102.7. I called the doctor and he said she more than likely had the Adeno virus on top of the strep . So we had to alternate Children's Motrin and Tylenol every 4 hours for 24 hours. And put cold washclothes on her forehead and armpits to try to bring the fever down. Her fever finally broke. Poor thing. She felt nauseous the whole weekend and hardly ate anything. Thank goodness they had Monday off from school for President's Day. She really needed all that time to get better. But she's doing better now. We go back to the doctor's tomorrow. Needless to say, I've been on a cleaning frenzy this past week. And also wiping down everything with Clorox wipes umpteen billion times (counters, faucets, door handles, iPod, remote controls, computer keyboards, mouse, phone, etc.). I even sent Clorox wipes in a Ziploc baggy in with B. so she could wipe her desk and pencils down at school. Since I had picked up her schoolwork so she wouldn't get behind, I had wiped down all those books, the inside and outside of her bookbag and lunchbag. Plus I sprayed her bookbag with Lysol. She's on her 3rd brand new toothbrush since she got sick. We changed them out every few days. since I'm trying to prevent her getting reinfected again. Yeah, I've been kind of a fanatic. lol! Apparently, a couple other kids in her class have also had or have the Adeno virus as well. And I'm feeling a cold or something coming on myself. Hoo boy. Always something.
In other news, we have two new members in the family. I am the proud aunt of twin baby boys born on Feb 7th! :) There were some complications with the smaller baby, Michael. Something about fluid around his heart and somewhere else while he was still in the womb. My sister-in-law spent 38 days in the hospital starting right before Christmas. I had no idea any of this was going on because my brother and I have not been on the best of speaking terms for pretty much our whole adult lives. Hopefully, though, that will all change. And, hopefully, my brother will realize how important family is to me. I can only hope. Anyway..... It got to the point where they had to make a decision to take the babies out early or risk the worse. They couldn't just take out one and leave the other one in the womb because they are identical twins. And so on Feb 7th, Michael Emmanuel and Philip Nathaniel were born prematurely via C-section at 31-1/2 weeks gestation.....
Michael was only 2 lbs. 3 oz. and 12-1/4 inches long when he was born. He is now at 2 lbs. 11 oz. and gaining everyday and has grown to 16". They are hoping to reach the 3 pound mark by the end of the month.. These pics were taken just yesterday....
His twin brother, Philip, was just a little over 5 lbs. and was 19" when he was born. He is now at 5 lbs. 4 oz. He and Michael are both off of the oxygen now and "only" have 1 or 2 "spells" a day where they forget to breathe. They both have feeding tubes going up through their noses to their tummies. And are on monitors for their heart and oxygen saturation. They've both discovered their hands and can hold a pacifier even though they are only at 34 weeks (gestation) at this point. This is Philip below. I just can't get over how precious and sweet they both are....
Please keep them all in your prayers. They will have to be in NICU for about six more weeks. Especially little Michael. I can't stop looking at their pictures and wish I lived closer to them....
JoAnn's had a great deal on bling last week - 50% off plus I was able to use a 10% coupon on top of that. So I got one pound bags each of both clear and multi-colors. Plus a small package of black bling. Here's what my scrapbook table looks like currently, as I started sorting the colored bling into an acrylic Artbin container earlier this afternoon.....
JoAnn's has discontinued my favorite CraftMates containers and so I had to go with these boxes instead. They have a lid that slides out. Hopefully, this storage method works out. Yeah, I'm gonna be sorting bling into different colors and sizes for awhile. lol!
The bag of clear bling was easier, since all I did was pour it into an old jar my Mom had given me awhile back that originally came with apple pie filling in it. Since I couldn't get the labels off, I added a decorative band of paper and punched a border with my Martha Stewart doily punch. And added a circle of the same patterned paper to the top. This was leftover paper from when I made that Hello Kitty card....
B. has already used some of the clear bling to decorate one of her silicone iPod covers. I let her use my Glossy Accents & QuickStik. The back of her iPod cover is completely covered in bling now. She's quite proud of herself to say the least.
