Hello Kitty Birthday Card

Hi all, I hope you all had a good weekend. We got a good bit of snow here (about 4") during the weekend and it has been frigid cold and so I didn't go anywhere except to take B. to her first "school dance" Friday night which had an 80's theme. She looked so darn cute dressed in her 80's outfit - and we had fun putting it altogether. I made a huge pot of chili & some honey cornbread (Krusteaz) yesterday since we're having the perfect weather for it. That's the first time I've made chili in forever. I did some shopping at the local thrift store this past week and picked up a cookbook for myself and a bunch of chapter books for B. all for .50cents each. I tried a recipe from the cookbook already and we all liked it a lot and so I will be making it again since it's a definite "keeper". I will try to remember to share it here soon.

I've been having fun making projects with my Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge this past week and putting it to good use....

This first project is a card for one of B's friend's upcoming birthday party. She loves Hello Kitty and the color purple, so I made this especially for her. I hope she likes it.....

I used the card special feature on this cartridge and cut everything out at 5-1/4". The flower paper comes from the spring DCWV 180 stack from last spring (I think). I added some diamond Stickles and bling to the flowers and pop-dotted them up for some dimension. I also added some Stickles to the centers of all the tiny flowers on her dress. Too cute!

The sentiment inside of the card comes from a Fiskars stamp set.

B. and I also used the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge to decorate her Valentine box this past week....

B. obviously had a lot of fun decorating her Valentine box with tons of glittery foam stickers. lol! This is actually the 2nd Valentine's box she decorated with this same box of stickers. I bought them at Wal-Mart several years ago and there's still tons of them left.

Other than that, not much going on here besides the fact that I've become addicted to Pinterest. lol! I signed up this past fall and kept forgetting about it. But lately I've been playing around with it and have been getting tons of ideas for every possible subject on there. And I'm finding websites and blogs that I never knew existed since it's essentially a place to bookmark or "pin" stuff you see on the 'net for everyone to see. When you click on the picture of whatever, it takes you to the site it originally came from and it also tells you who pinned it, so you can look at their boards and if you have the same interests, you can subscribe to all their boards or just the ones you want. I thought Pinterest might be nice for scrapbooking inspiration, but I'm finding I also love it for discovering organizing ideas, recipes, hairstyle tutorials, DIY stuff, decorating, holidays, quotes (I love quotes & sayings), and all sorts of nifty things. You can even pin YouTube videos on there. I have 62 boards and over 1,100 pins so far. So yeah, I'd say I'm definitely addicted and the fact that they have an app for the iPod doesn't help matters.  lol!

'Til next time....
