Another Wintery Thank You Card

I swear I am not really a "cardmaker" but I just had to make another thank you card after receiving a very kind, heartfelt letter from my sister-in-law, S. yesterday. I don't post a whole lot about my personal life on here - except for a few happy, positive things. And my life really is a good one for the most part and I try to stay focused on the positive things like a happy marriage, our child, our life and the family that I do have including my in-laws. However,  I come from a family with a lot of problems (and that's putting it lightly) and that tends to bring me down at times if I let it. Like I said in a previous post, the holidays are sometimes hard for me because of this. My very intuitive sister-in-law picked up on this over the holidays when I very briefly mentioned something and she took the time to reach out to me in her letter. I am truly touched and wanted to show my appreciation by making her a thank you card in return.....

Supplies used: Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge for big red snowflake (cut at 4"), DCWV card base and glittery patterned paper, Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, Tim Holtz sanding grip, Sizzix Tim Holtz tags & tabs die (I cut off 1/2" from the bottom of the tag & have it on dimensional adhesive), Fired Brick & Antique Linen distress inks, Jenni Bowlin Spiced Tin dye ink, Imaginisce snowman stamp, "Thank you" is from a Fiskars set, Corner Chomper corner rounder, Stickles, bling, bakers twine, eyelet, and a button.

I hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed creating it for her.

Hot Cocoa Scrapbook Layout

Happy Friday Everyone!

I started this layout back in February and put it aside to make that baby mini album. I usually never let a scrapbook project sit this long since I always finish them up right away. But I got a little burned out on scrapbooking after that mini album and needed a break for awhile. I wanted to get this finished up since I'm moving on to scrapbooking some family heritage photos for my mother-in-law. I just got them the other day and spent a couple hours scanning, editing, enlarging, and printing them out this morning. Now I'm ready to go. I also picked up the Tattered Time DCWV stack today at JoAnn's. I just discovered it the other day when I was there and decided to go back and get it. I love this stack and it will be perfect for scrapbooking heritage photos with. It has a lot clock gears, typewriters, tickets, vintage radios, etc. etc. in it. I just love it....

A lot of other people must be lovin' it too since I snagged the very last one of these  stacks that they had left. So between this one, DCWV Mainstreet and the Bo Bunny Timepiece collection, I have plenty of patterned papers to work from. Hey, I like to have choices. lol!

Without further ado, here's my recent scrapbook layout finish...

I used a sketch from the most recent sketch book (#7) from Scrapbook Generation that I got back in January. Patterned papers are by Imaginisce. Papers and photos were inked with Fired Brick Distress Ink from Tim Holtz. Border punches used were by Fiskars - apron lace and scallop sentiment. Snowflakes were made with the Arctic Snowflake Martha Stewart punch. I used both the positive and negative punched images. The title was made with my Cricut using the Winter Woodland cartridge. And the mug and snowman are from Christmas Cheer. The journaling block was made using a new Ali Edwards journaling stamp and Jenni Bowlin brown dye ink. I wrapped some cotton baker's twine around my journaling block that I just got in the mail yesterday from The Twinery. I decided to jump on the baker's twine bandwagon and give it a try since I love the look of it. I love this stuff. It is soooo pretty. It adds just the perfect touch to a layout or card. And I love that you can also stitch with it using a large-eyed needle. I got the big sampler pack so I could have 15 yards of each of the 11 colors of cotton baker's twine that The Twinery offers. They also sell each of these colors in large 240 yard spools. I thought 15 yards of each was all I "needed" and it gives me plenty to  play work with for awhile...

Frosty Fun Layout

I hope you all had a wonderful week. I got my scrapping area cleaned up and am ready to start on some new layouts this weekend. I finished up the Frosty Fun layout the other day and ended up doing some stitching on it as well....

I used my Cricut and the Winter Woodland cartridge for the title - cut at 2-1/2", and for the snow woman - which was cut at 7". The Winter Lace seasonal cartridge was used for all the snowflakes - cut at 1-1/2", 2", and 2-1/2". All the patterned paper, cardstock and glitter cardstock is from DCWV from their recent Winter Wonder patterned paper & Christmas cardstock/glitter matstack(s). I inked the edges of all the papers and photos with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. Border punch is by EK Success. I went a little crazy with my i-Rock on this one. There's 54 rhinestones in all! lol! I pop-dotted up all the snowflakes, the snow woman, and the scarf, heart and hat, and my journaling block. Lots of dimension on this one, and, as you can probably tell, I had a lot of fun with it. :) I sort of scraplifted a layout that was in Creating Keepsakes magazine a few months back. Except I did my own thing with the embellishments, papers, title, and journaling area. I really like how it turned out....

I love stitching on my layouts. I've been using the Bazzill in Stitch'z templates for awhile now and really enjoy using those for my scrapbook pages. I used the flourishes one for this layout. And since I like stitching on my scrapbook pages, I wanted to give the new Sew Easy by We R Memory Keepers a try. I was finally able to get my hands on one since they've recently become available and keep selling out everywhere online. The Sew Easy tool itself comes with the straight stitch attachment and a large needle which stores inside of the handle. But all the other heads and the piercing mat you have to buy separately. So it was hard finding them altogether at the same time, at the same place. I got all but two of the attachment heads. But I'm happy with what I was able to get for now and can't wait to try using this on some layouts.....

I also picked up some great cookbooks  - all 75% off this week. I've bought maybe one cookbook (for a fundraiser at one of the local hospitals for the cancer center - well actually, I bought two since I got an extra one to give to my mother-in-law) and no cooking magazines  in the past year because I have so many now as it is. So I figured since I've gone so long, I could get these to add to my cookbook library. And at 75% off, how could I resist?? lol! These were all less than half of what a typical cooking magazine costs nowadays. There's some recipes in these that I'm really looking forward to trying....
