We are still in the middle of a heat wave this week. Mid-90's and it's hardly rained, if at all, this whole week. There's a slight chance of rain in the morning, but we'll see if it actually rains this time. The grass has started turning brown and we've had to make sure that our flowers stay watered. Today was a fun day for B. at the pool. She found out that the girl who was in Level 5 with her and passed is actually several years older. So that made her feel better knowing that. They ended up talking and she made a new friend. Very nice girl and it turns out they go to the same school. When my husband came home from work this evening, we decided to have dinner at a restaurant in the area that's right on the river. Back before B. was born and my husband had his SeaDoo jetski, we took a trip down the river to this restaurant, tied the jetski on the dock and had dinner here many years ago. The place is pretty packed on weekends, but tonight it wasn't which made it nice. I love the view and atmosphere here. And although it was really hot out, at least there was a little bit of a breeze now and then. We ate in the huge dining room where they keep the doors open to the deck that surrounds it...
B. was fascinated with the barges going down the river and loved standing out on the deck watching them go by...
Afterwards, we came home and watered all the flowers, our little garden of tomatoes and peppers, and went swimming for awhile. The water in the pool is 89 degrees so we are leaving the cover off so it will cool down a bit for tomorrow.
My mom called late this evening saying that my stepdad has been having trouble breathing and with his heart. He ended up in the hospital earlier this week and his heart stopped a couple of times Tuesday night and again last night. So it's a good thing he was in the hospital when it happened. They did surgery to put a pacemaker in and he'll be coming home tomorrow morning. He's not allowed to drive, golf, go out dancing, or do much of anything for the next six weeks while he heals from his surgery. I hope that he'll be ok. He's 74 years old and has a long history of heart problems with having triple bypass surgery many years ago. And he lost an artery to his heart when he had cancer during some kind of therapy. Not chemo. But some other kind. I really hope the pacemaker helps him and he'll be ok. He is a very active person, watches what he eats and all that. Sometimes it's easy to forget how old he is. So if you are reading this, please say a prayer for him. Thank you.
Until next time...
